You might sometimes find yourself wondering, "What is really the purpose of a board of directors of a company?"


Well simply put, the purpose of corporate boards is to essentially represent the stockholders of an organization in monitoring and holding accountable the executives that are running the business.


They provide expert advise to the leaders on how the business can operate and continue to grow. CEOs of companies would usually report to them every month and ask their advice on major decisions and long-term strategies that the company will pursue.


Think of them as like the wise old men in every fantasy movie that gives guidance and clarity to the main character.
